As vintage advertising empires go, it doesn’t get much better than Air India. Creator of the iconic, mustachio’d Maharaja mascot and some of the quirkiest, most colourful airline posters ever to grace walls. And collaborator with a remarkable roster of illustrators, including Umesh Rao and Jean-Thomas ‘Tomi’ Ungerer.
The airline’s skill for branding and advertising over the years has extended to a range of Air India products, including this amazing 1970s neon orange tape measure, still in its original box.
A true advertising / product design collectible and reminder of how the Air India advertising journey has been a major part of the airline’s almost-100-year success story.
