Enter the strange and satirical world of the Okefenokee Swamp, which anthropomorphizes the animals found there to express the weirdness of the world we live in…
Pogo was a daily comic strip that was created by cartoonist Walt Kelly and syndicated to American newspapers from 1948 until 1975.
Set in the Okefenokee Swamp in the Southeastern United States, Pogo followed the adventures of its title character, an opossum, and his pals, including Albert Alligator, Howland Owl, Porky Pine and others.
Walt Kelly, an early Disney animator who struck out on his own, found fame as a social commentator and satirist. One of his satirical targets was institutional and societal racism, as well as the societal apathy that grew out of self-absorption.
