Lawson Wood’s Annual.
Published by Dean & Son in 1952.
Binding: Hardcover
Condition: Excellent (just one small and very neat name of a previous owner inside, but otherwise this book is great condition for its age.)

Lawson Wood was an acclaimed British painter, illustrator and cartoonist known for his comical depictions of animals, policemen, cavemen and dinosaurs. His most famous character was Gran’pop, a ginger-haired ape. In addition to his artistic career, Wood was an animal rights activist, and many of his illustrations of animals were made into a popular series of wooden toys in Britain.

This annual of Wood’s work, published by Dean & Son in 1952, is an amazing tribute to a true talent. His work is both funny and technically suberb, and still very much
coveted in auction.
