Terracotta Polychrome Figures Made in India, 1950s

Regular price £48.00

Tax included.

A group of six terracotta figurines made and hand painted by craftsmen in Bengal in the 1930s/40s.

Figurative modelling flourished in Bengal from the early 18th Century onwards. Although often obtained as souvenirs, they were also acquired by museums for educational purposes.

These six little figures are still as colourful as ever and have an enduring beauty that’s unaffected by the paint chips that have come with age.

Approx 12cm in height.
