One of the best British writer/illustrator collaborations of all time has to be that of food writer and journalist Ambrose Heath, and the master painter, printmaker and graphic artist Edward Bawden.

Heath was one of the first great cooks to create cookery books based on the incontrovertible theory that the best food is that which is in season, while Bawden is today recognised as one of the most influential artists of his generation, who pushed the boundaries between fine and commercially art so cleverly and beautifully.

The duos “Good Food” series of cookbooks, including Good Food, Good Soups, Good Drinks, Good Savouries, Good Sweets and more, feature recipes by Heath and cover and title page design by Bawden, and were published by Faber & Faber in the 1930s.

This is a lovey first edition of Good Soups, and the product of two British greats sharing talent as well as friendship. Would make a special first edition gift for the chef in your life.
