The 1930s was the heyday of Disney. The decade it released Snow White, predicted to be “Disney's folly” because of its long production time and astronomical costs. But this first full-length animated featured became a monster hit. Five more full-length features quickly followed, including Pinocchio, which would go on to become the first one to win a competitive Academy Award.

The 1930s laid the foundation for Disney as we know it now, with its stories of princesses, adventures, talking animals, and musical scores that would be sung for decades afterwards. During this golden era, Disney also produced some wonderful and now highly collectable books, toys and magazines.

This beautiful large-format book, Detective Adventures, was published by Juvenile Productions in London for Disney in 1938. It follows Mickey Mouse on a clue-cracking romp around town, along with sidekick Pluto. This copy is a first edition, first printing with the red cloth spine (the next print run had a green spine).
